Library

Congregation Etz Chayim is proud of its growing synagogue library. Our collection currently contains over 2,000 books covering a wide range of Judaica such as Bible, Talmud, Midrash, history, biography, fiction, cooking, and art. We have a generous picture book collection, and continue to grow our offerings for older elementary and up.

The Library has a state-of-the-art Judaica Library Computer Catalog system making it possible to search the collection by author, title, subject or keyword at any time of day and from the comfort of home. Click here to search our online catalog. Our check out process is not automated but relies on the honor system.  Borrowers put their name on the check-out card found inside each book and leave it in the “Self-Check Out” box in the library.

The library was built and continues to be supported by donations from congregants and friends of libraries.  If you have material to donate, please contact the office (or Library Committee members Susan Slater or Liz Russell  directly by way of the congregational membership directory).  Please do not drop donation materials at Etz without first checking with someone!  If we cannot use the books you are offering, we are happy to advise you on where else they may be donated.  We have a wish list of recently published books that we think would be valuable additions to our shelves.

The library is open whenever the Etz Chayim building is open. Please feel free to come in and browse our collection. And thank you for remembering to check out any books that you are borrowing
