11:00 AM - 12:30 PMStandWithUs (SWU) is an international, non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to educating about Israel and fighting antisemitism around the world. This work is inspired by love for Israel, the belief that education is the road to peace, and a commitment to stand up for Israel and the Jewish people when they are attacked or misrepresented.
In keeping with that mission, SWU programs and materials educate about Israel's successes and challenges in making peace with its neighbors, covering a variety of perspectives about what Israel should do. However, the organization respects Israeli democracy and does not advocate for the Israeli government to adopt any specific policy. In the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, StandWithUs would support any negotiated solution agreed upon by both parties.
Max grew up in Boston and is a first-generation American. His parents fled to Israel from the Soviet Union to escape the racism and discrimination Jews faced there. Although Max now lives in Southern California, he has traveled to Israel and lived there for extended periods throughout his life. Max graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2011 with a degree in political science and international relations. He interned at the office of Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) before joining StandWithUs in 2012.
This event is the second in a series of presentations with a range of perspectives on Israel today.
