Happy New Year,

For those of you who missed our January 1st New Years Day hike, here is another chance to hike with fellow congregants in the month of January. Our next hike will be a bit longer (6.6 mi) and a bit more elevation gain (1100 ft) than our usual fare. (There is a nice picnic table (so carry a snack/lunch) and porta potties at the top). As usual, carry the customary 1 liter of water, warm hat and gloves, sun hat, sun glasses, sun screen, and enough warm clothing to be warm! In addition carry your snacks/energy food.

We will hike a loop at Windy Hill (Meadow Trail, Spring Ridge, Anniversary Trail, Lost Trail, and Hamm's Gulch to conclude. This is a DOG FRIENDLY HIKING LOOP for those who have asked for such a hike. The uphill section is open meadow. The downhill follows mostly shady switchbacks to the parking area.

Meet at Etz to carpool at 10:00 am, or meet at 10:30 am the trailhead at the intersection of Alpine Road and Willowbrook Road (labelled WH06 on the attached map; read the map carefully). We should be back at Etz no later than 3:00 pm -- RSVP (via email preferred, or by our home phone 650-856-9571); if there is a weather delay or cancellation, the notice will only be sent to those who have let me know of their interest in this hike.
