Donate FAQ
Donate FAQ
Do I need to be a member of Congregation Etz Chayim to donate?
No. We receive, and welcome, many donations from the greater community.
Do I need to make my donation on line?
No. You are welcome to make a donation by phone (650-813-9094) or mail:
Congregation Etz Chayim
4161 Alma St
Palo Alto, CA 94306
Can I direct my donation?
Yes. Donations may be designated for a variety of specialized uses. They are all equally tax-deductible, and are noted on our Donate Online page. Unless you note otherwise, each donation goes to the Operating Fund.
Do you accept stock?
We accept and welcome stock donations. To donate stock, please call (650-813-9094 x205) or email our accountant, Jennifer Jasso, for instructions.
Is my gift private?
You are welcome to request anonymity. Unless you specifically tell us that your donation is to be anonymous, you will be thanked in our weekly ebulletin.
What is a Non-cash Donation?
A non-cash donation (sometimes called an "in-kind donation") is something you give to the synagogue other than money. Such a donation is tax-deductible as well, and it will be acknowledged with a letter that you can use in your tax filings. A non-cash donation may be an item that you own already or something you buy to meet a particular need of the congregation.
ALL non-cash donations must be pre-approved before you bring them to the synagogue—we would love to receive items we want or need. Similarly, if you have a specific item you wish to buy for the synagogue and then donate directly, please email our executive director, Ellen Bob.
