Learn

Lifelong learning is a goal we enthusiastically embrace at Etz Chayim.  Our educational programs mirror the diverse and inclusive values of our community. We strive to provide meaningful, positive learning experiences across the age spectrum for people at various levels of Jewish knowledge. Our students are encouraged to think critically, to question and to voice their ideas and opinions.

Here are some of the ways we encourage learning at Etz Chayim:

  • We wrote our own Siddur.  It contains Hebrew, English, and transliteration so that everyone can follow.  It also contains a number of alernative English readings.
  • On Sunday mornings, T'filah service is for both parents and children so that they can learn and pray together.
  • During the Shabbat morning Torah reading you can select from five different translations and commentaries.  The books range from reform to orthodox.
  • During the Bar/t Mitzvah ceremony there is often an interactive question and answer session between the Bar/t Mitzvah and the congregation.
  • We have movie nights and a book club where we can share our thoughts about what we have seen or read.
  • We have a library where you can sit and read and you can check out books.
