The Adult Education committee supports our core value of lifelong learning with events presenting Jewish and general interest topics. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are open to interested teens.
The
Bar/t Mitzvah committee helps prepare a child and his/her family for bar or bat mitzvah experience. The Bar/t committee schedules the students’ meetings and works with the rabbi to establish policies regarding the celebration.
The Capital Campaign committee complements the work of the fundraising committee, developing and executing initiatives that support fundraising to cover our capital expenditures.
The
Design committee has taken the lead in working with architects, contractors and craftspeople to improve the physical space where we worship, learn and socialize. The Design committee meets roughly every 5 to 6 weeks, usually on a Monday night.
The Facilities committee makes sure everything runs smoothly with our physical plant, inside the building and out and helps save us a ton of money (and keep dues lower) by pitching in when a need arises, doing everything from hanging pictures or lighting fixtures, to plumbing, painting and carpentry! Meetings are optional, and you can choose whether you prefer individual tasks or group projects.
The
Festivals committee organizes the Etz Chayim holiday celebrations including Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Chanukah, T’u b’Shvat, Purim, and Passover (Second Seder). You can help out with either a small task or a larger role, depending on your schedule.
The Finance committee meets monthly and works with the executive director and accountant on the congregation’s financial management. It reports to the board and makes recommendations for financial-related policies and procedures.
The Fundraising committee creates events and campaigns that build community and add revenue to support the operational budget and keep dues low.
The Israel Education committee presents programs on Israeli culture, history and political perspectives.
The Library committee maintains our library by sorting donations, reshelving books, and improving the organization and aesthetics of our congregational library.
The Marketing committee produces marketing materials, brochures, and other collateral materials. It assists our committees and religious school with their publicity efforts.
The Membership committee works with the executive director to recruit and welcome new members of the congregation and to improve member retention.
The
Mensch committee works to create a support system for members who are undergoing chronic or long-term stresses including illness, bereavement, job loss, or other challenges.
The Mitzvah Chavurah reaches out to fellow congregants who need assistance. The Mitzvah Chavurah provides support by bringing meals, running errands, organizing a Shiva Minyan, giving rides to congregants who do not drive, and helping out in other varied ways.
The Newsletter committee publishes Connections, our monthly newsletter. Volunteers write for the publication, edit it, or sell advertising.
The Oneg committee organizes oneg sponsorship, recruiting members to provide refreshments for Friday night and Saturday morning services, often pairing new members with more experienced households to co-host an oneg.
The Religious Practices committee makes recommendations on religious policies and practices for our congregation. The rabbi is an advisor to and member of the committee but does not make religious practice decisions unilaterally.
The
Rental committee helps keep our dues lower by maximizing our rental income. The rental committee helps plan rental policies and recommends actions to improve our rental income.
The
Social Action committee works with existing local organizations, supplying volunteers, funds, or other materials to help specific causes. Ongoing activities include programs related to easing hunger and homelessness, and improving our environment. Hunger an
The Website committee implements technical fixes and website maintenance and helps our staff and committee chairs with questions about web page content, access problems, and email list management.
The Youth Education committee assists the education director, planning programs and revising curriculum.
